Muay Thai ankle wraps
Last reviewed 10 Oct 2026
An ankle wrap is a cloth band. An ankle support is a sleeve or a brace, and that page is separate. IFMA's contest rules, filename 11 May 2026, do not allow ankle protection, including a cloth anklet or tape. The 8 Oct 2026 catalogue has no ankle-wrap price.
Key facts:
- Cloth wrap here. Sleeve or brace on the supports page. Hand wraps are a third item.
- IFMA 15.6: no ankle protection in the contest. A gym can be stricter or looser on a Tuesday.
- No dated catalogue price. £18.99 is a hand wrap. £26.99 is a groin guard.
- A wrap is not a treatment. NHS pages cover the stop rules.

Two products people merge
The supports guide is about a sleeve that does not diagnose a sprain. This URL is the strip of cloth. If your coach wants a wrap for a drill, that is their session. If your ankle will not take your weight, the cloth is the wrong next step. The NHS ankle-pain page and the sprains page, both read 10 Oct 2026, are the next stop. This page does not add a rehab protocol.
In the ring, under the IFMA sheet we fetched, ankle protection is forbidden. Elbow guards and shin guards in that sheet are a different section, and they are supplied for the bout. Do not assume a Thai stadium uses the IFMA kit list. Read the promoter's rules.
Class, contest, and a sore ankle
A Tuesday class follows the gym. An IFMA contest follows the sheet we fetched, filename 11 May 2026, and section 15.6 bars ankle protection, including a cloth anklet and tape. A Thai stadium card is the promoter's rules, not that IFMA paragraph copied across. If you are not sure which sheet the bout uses, ask before you tape.
The NHS ankle-pain page, read 10 Oct 2026, says see a GP if the pain stops normal activities, gets worse, or has not improved after two weeks. It says use NHS 111 if the pain is severe, you cannot walk, the shape has changed, or you heard a snap or pop. The sprains page says avoid strenuous exercise such as running for up to eight weeks. Kicking is strenuous. None of that is a rehab plan, and a wrap is not a treatment.
Hand wraps stay on their own page. The 4.5 m RDX wrap at £18.99, catalogue 8 Oct 2026, is for the hands. The £26.99 groin guard in the same file is a different SKU. Shin guards are a fourth product. The supports page covers a sleeve or a brace and refuses a medical claim. This page will not borrow a price from any of them.

FAQs
Is an ankle wrap the same as an ankle support?
No. This page is cloth you wind on. The supports page is a sleeve or a brace, and it refuses a medical claim. A shop that uses one word for both is mixing two products. Hand wraps are a third product, for the wrist and knuckles. The 4.5 m RDX wrap at £18.99 is a hand wrap. Do not cite it as an ankle price.
Can I wear one in an IFMA bout?
Section 15.6 of the IFMA rules we fetched, filename 11 May 2026, says no ankle protection may be worn, and it names a cloth anklet and tape. That is a contest rule. A Tuesday class is the gym's rule. Ask before you tape. We are not telling you to hide a wrap under a sock for a bout.
Will a wrap stop a sprain?
We will not say that. The NHS sprains page, read 10 Oct 2026, says to avoid strenuous exercise such as running for up to eight weeks. Kicking is strenuous. See a GP if ankle pain stops normal activities, gets worse, or has not improved after two weeks. Call NHS 111 if you cannot walk, the ankle changed shape, or you heard a snap.
What does one cost?
Nothing in the 8 Oct 2026 catalogue is an ankle wrap, so there is no catalogue price here. The £26.99 figure in that file is an RDX groin guard. The supports page does not lend its price to this one either. If you buy cloth, use the seller's length and the gym's rule. A wrap that leaves your foot tingling is too tight. Take it off.
