Methodology

These ranks are an editorial selection from the Muay Thai Atlas gym file for this city. They are not a mathematical index and they are not a fresh scrape of Google. Every gym below appears in that file. Gyms outside the file were not added.

The same weights were used in every city:

• Muay Thai specialism (30). A programme built around Muay Thai ranks ahead of a general MMA, boxing, karate or jiu-jitsu school that lists Muay Thai as one class among several.
• Coaching pedigree (25). Named head coaches, Thai krus and documented lineages, taken from a gym website or a reputable article. Coaches who were not named on a page reviewed here are not guessed.
• Fight-team evidence (20). Titles, stadiums and results only where a cited page states them.
• Google rating and review volume (15). Copied from the source gym file, last verified 2026-09-28. They were not re-measured for this article.
• Beginner access and published price (10). Kids or beginner classes, and any price printed in the gym file or on a cited page.

A high review count does not by itself outrank a specialist gym with a documented coach. Where a city has fewer than ten gyms with a credible public footprint, the list is shorter.

1. PCT Gym

Area: Montpelier

Best for: beginners

The instructor page names head coach Kru Paul Studholme and assistant Joshua Doulton, who says he has competed at novice and amateur level and now takes Saturday morning classes. The source file lists Bronze, Silver and Gold memberships and a cheaper student and NHS rate, and the style list is Muay Thai, kickboxing and boxing. That is the most Muay Thai-specific coaching evidence in Bristol. The gym file places it in Montpelier. The Google rating copied from that file is 4.9 from 120 reviews. Best for: fitness

St Jude's gym with the largest review count in the Bristol file. Founder Mario Saeed is described as a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and professional MMA fighter. The coaches page names Antonio Eury as the Muay Thai coach among a staff that also covers boxing, jiu-jitsu and MMA. A free trial is advertised. Muay Thai is one department of a large MMA gym, which is why it sits behind PCT despite the reviews. The gym file places it in St Jude's.
