Best Muay Thai gyms in Phuket

Editorial ranking of Phuket gyms that appear in the Muay Thai Atlas Thailand gym file. The order is a judgement grounded in the sources under each gym. It is not a calculated score or a star rating.

Methodology

Only gyms in the Atlas Thailand file were eligible. Weights used for the judgement:

1. Stadium and promotion pedigree (30%). Documented Lumpinee, Rajadamnern, Omnoi, ONE, UFC, or equivalent names tied to the gym on a gym page or in a published guide.
2. Named trainer depth (25%). Coaches named on the gym site, in an interview, or in a reported article.
3. Training structure (20%). Published level splits, pad work, clinch, sparring, or a fighter pathway.
4. Beginner access (10%). An explicit first-timer track or a stated welcome for all levels.
5. Accommodation and long-stay practicality (10%). On-site rooms or a stay-and-train product.
6. Published price (5%). Figures already recorded for the gym, read against what is included.

Google ratings are repeated only when the Atlas file already recorded them. No record or quotation was invented. A gym's own "number one" claim is labelled as the gym's claim.

Best for is one tag: beginners, fighters, fitness, or long-stay.

The Atlas file still lists Lerdsila among trainers at Phuket Top Team. Bangtao's own coach profile, retrieved for this ranking, describes him as teaching staff at Bangtao. This list does not assume he holds pads at both gyms on the same day.

1. Bangtao Muay Thai & MMA

Area: Bang Tao

Best for: fighters

Wikipedia dates the gym to 2021 and names founders George Hickman (head coach), Frank Hickman (wrestling), Alex Schild (Brazilian jiu-jitsu), and Andrew Wood (strength), and says the four had been part of the coaching team around UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski. The same article lists Jiří Procházka and Zhang Weili among past titleholders associated with the facility. Bangtao's own profile of Sam-A Gaiyanghadao says he joined the Muay Thai coaches in 2022 after Evolve in Singapore, is available for private sessions, and gives a career summary of more than 400 fights, two Lumpinee titles, four Thailand titles, and three ONE world titles (Muay Thai flyweight, inaugural kickboxing strawweight, inaugural Muay Thai strawweight). The Lerdsila profile on the same site calls him a three-time Rajadamnern champion across three weight classes, with five further world titles, and says he is on the teaching staff for privates. The Atlas file records on-site accommodation and all-access weeks at 4500 and 5000 baht, with a month at 15000 baht. The rank is the named Muay Thai coaches plus the MMA history, not the beach.

2. Sinbi Muay Thai

Area: Rawai

Best for: fighters

The camp site says Sing opened Sinbi in January 2007 near Nai Harn. The team page gives his fight names as Thopadak Wanchalerm and Sinbi Taewoong, states a South Thailand title at 70 lb, number-one rankings at Lumpinee and Rajadamnern, a 2005 KOMA title, K-1 appearances in 2006, and ten championship belts. The same page names a long coach list with the gym's own fight counts, including Fa (Yod Khompatak, over 160 fights), Saeng Keang (over 225), Bow (250), and others, and says most have fought at Lumpinee or Rajadamnern and can teach in English. Classes are described for beginners and for fight preparation, with privates booked at the gym shop, and the camp is closed Sunday. The Atlas file records on-site accommodation, a 600 baht session, and monthly rates of 8000 baht for one session a day or 12000 baht for two. Trainer depth is the reason it sits above larger resort gyms.

3. Sor Dejdamrong Muay Thai

Area: Kathu

Best for: fighters

The gym site names head trainer Kru Rong, Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, as a former ONE strawweight champion and, in the site's words, the first Thai to win an MMA world title. It states a Muay Thai record of 282 wins, 65 losses, and 3 draws across 350 fights, multiple Lumpinee titles in three weight classes, retirement from Muay Thai in 2007, coaching in Japan, and the head-trainer role at Evolve MMA in Singapore until 2023. Group classes are Monday to Saturday, 08:00–10:00 and 16:00–18:00, described as suitable from beginners to fighters, with privates available with Kru Rong. The rank is one documented coach rather than a large staff list. That is enough to place the gym with the fight camps, and it is a different offer from a twenty-trainer floor.

4. Tiger Muay Thai

Area: Soi Ta-iad, Chalong

Best for: beginners

Tiger's site describes the Chalong camp as a large Muay Thai, MMA, and fitness destination, with Muay Thai classes split into beginner, intermediate, advanced, and an invite-only professional group, run twice a day, plus BJJ, wrestling, fitness, and yoga. Muay Thai Citizen lists Tiger among the main Phuket camps and describes it as popular with beginners and tourists while also used by experienced competitors. That article's price table shows 500 baht for a class and 15500 baht for a month; the Atlas file records 500 baht a session, 1000 baht a day, 4400 baht for a Muay Thai week, and 13500 baht for a Muay Thai month, and marks accommodation on site. The two monthly figures are both published and they do not match, so the Atlas figure is the one used for the price weight. The tag is beginners because the level split is explicit. The camp is not ranked first because the pages retrieved here do not name a current Muay Thai head coach the way Bangtao and Sinbi do.

5. AKA Thailand

Area: Rawai

Best for: long-stay

The gym site is written in Mike Swick's voice. He calls himself founder, owner, and CEO, describes "more than 30 years of fighting experience," and says the resort is for complete beginners through world champions. The page lists a 7000 sq ft Muay Thai area, a large indoor grappling room, a saltwater pool, and a cafe, and it quotes UFC fighters who have trained there. It also says the gym was voted the number-one Muay Thai school in Thailand by the Thai government four years in a row. That sentence is the gym's claim; it is not an independent ranking used here. The Atlas file marks accommodation on site and lists drop-in ranges of about 700 to 1000 baht and punch cards of 5800 to 11000 baht. The tag is long-stay because the product on the page is a residential campus, not a single stadium coach's pad round.

6. Phuket Top Team

Area: Soi Ta-iad, Chalong

Best for: fighters

Muay Thai Citizen groups Phuket Top Team with Tiger as a large gym covering Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, MMA, and conditioning, with technique work and sparring in separate sessions. The Atlas file names Lerdsila, Nampon, and Wayunoii Fluke, records no on-site accommodation, and lists a 1500 baht private with Lerdsila plus a 10000 baht pad-holder course. Bangtao's coach profile places Lerdsila on Bangtao's teaching staff, so this rank uses Citizen's description of the gym's structure and does not depend on Lerdsila being present daily. Confirm which coach is actually on the session before paying a private rate attached to his name.

7. Phuket Fight Club

Area: Chalong

Best for: fighters

The Atlas file names Kru Lek, lists Allycia Rodrigues, Julio Lobo, and Luis Cajaiba among notable fighters, and records 500 baht a session, 800 baht a day, 4500 baht a week, 4000 baht for 10 classes, and 12000 baht a month, with the site thephuketfightclub.com. Muay Thai Citizen includes the gym in its main-camp price table. That table's monthly and private figures differ from the Atlas file, so this ranking uses the Atlas prices and Citizen only as evidence that the gym is part of the island's main training set. A full coach biography for Kru Lek was not on the pages retrieved here, which is why the gym sits below Sinbi and Sor Dejdamrong.

8. Eagle Muay Thai

Area: Chalong

Best for: long-stay

The Atlas file names a long coaching list, including Wanmai, Jigsor, Kit, Don (Numphangna), Air, Kwan, Farook, Dam, Badam, and Sofa, marks accommodation on site, and records 400 baht for a group session, 600 baht for two sessions in a day, and 700 baht for a private hour. The website in the file is eagle-muay-thai-phuket.com. Individual stadium records for those coaches were not retrieved in this pass, so the gym is not ranked on pedigree. It is ranked on a named staff, a published private rate, and rooms at the gym, which is the long-stay case.

9. Suwit Muay Thai

Area: Chalong

Best for: long-stay

The Atlas file marks accommodation on site and records 500 baht a session, 3000 baht for a week of two sessions a day, and 9000 baht for a month, with a further monthly figure of 11500 in the same price field. The website is suwitmuaythai.com. No champion biography was retrieved for a named Suwit coach in this pass. The rank is a published stay-and-train price below the resort campuses, with less documented stadium staff than the gyms above.

10. Dragon Muay Thai

Best for: beginners

The Atlas file names Ekkarin Lookchan, marks accommodation on site, and records 300 baht a session, 500 baht for two sessions, and a week from 1800 baht for one session a day. The website is phuketdragonmuaythai.com. The published session price is the lowest among this ten, and the file still shows rooms at the gym. A stadium record for Ekkarin was not retrieved here, so the tag is beginners on price and access, not a claim that the gym is a fight factory.
