Muay Thai Liverpool is a city-centre fight gym plus suburban academies. Shows are club cards or, now and then, a titled bill. There is no weekly stadium.

Masda, open since 2010, trains amateurs and professionals in Muay Thai, MMA and boxing. It says Thai Fighter UK named it UK Gym of the Year for 2024. Mornings are invite-only pro work. Juniors train at 17:30, all-levels Muay Thai at 18:30, with beginners welcome, and Friday sparring is invite-only. The gym, on St Anne Street, L3 3DY, is open 09:00–21:00. Liverpool John Moores University’s club uses the same room on Tuesday and Thursday, 19:30–20:30, for £35 a year.

Warrior Combat Gym, 51 South Road, Waterloo, L22 5PE, is two minutes from Waterloo station. Muay Thai sits with boxing, kickboxing, MMA and jiu-jitsu. The first class is free, there is no joining fee, and sparring is optional. Training Grounds, Unit 3, Sefton Lane Industrial Estate, Maghull, L31 8BX, teaches Muay Thai from 16, with jiu-jitsu and MMA, under Kevin McAlister and John Smith. After a free week you must join: no pay-as-you-go, and one month’s notice to leave. Two Brothers, George Street, Birkenhead, CH41 1BJ, is a Wirral gym that also presents shows in Liverpool.

When to go

Crosby, just north of Waterloo, is the Met Office station for this coast. For 1991–2020, January averages 7.5°C by day and 2.8°C at night, and July 20.0°C and 13.5°C. Rain is about 824 mm a year, on about 147 days. April is driest, about 50 mm, and December wettest, about 92 mm. July still averages about 65 mm, and air frost averages about 28 days.

June to August are the mild months for roadwork. Gyms stay open in January. Cards are single dates. In late September 2026 Warrior was advertising ten fighters for 25 September at Crosby Comrades Club. WBC MuayThai’s note of 21 September scheduled Karl Ryan to defend its International title at 63.5 kg against Majid Ahmadi of Germany on 26 September at Fusion, Fleet Street, on a bill from 2 Brothers and Kiet Muay Thai. Recheck before you travel.

What it costs

Warrior charges adults, from 17, £50 a month for every class, rolling and with no joining fee. After a free first class the session price on its MMA page is £8, or £6 for ages 13–16. A one-to-one in Muay Thai, boxing, kickboxing or MMA is £30.

Masda is £90 a month for adults, three months minimum, then one month’s notice. Students and under-18s are £75. Privates are offered, with no hourly price published.

Training Grounds lists adult Muay Thai from £70 a month as unlimited and as three classes a week plus open mat, so confirm the cap. Full access is from £90, and there is no drop-in. Two Brothers, in Birkenhead, is £70 a month unlimited or £50 for two sessions a week, by direct debit.

The Accommodation BID, in June 2026, recorded average daily rate from £78.87 in January 2026 to £113.70 in September 2025, when football, conferences and leisure overlap. Over that comparison, 10,765 rooms averaged £96.91 a night at 76.3% occupancy. A £2 overnight levy has applied since June 2025. HotelsCombined, on 24 September 2026, put a recent average nearer £119, about £97 in July and £148 in August, with The Liverpool Pod listed at about £23 and the Hilton at about £86.

Where fighters stay

Lime Street and Albert Dock hotels suit Masda. Warrior is two minutes from Waterloo station, so a city room and the train still work. The Maghull gym is on an estate with parking, so drive. Stay in Birkenhead only for Two Brothers.

How to choose a gym

• Warrior sells a session at £8 and is rolling. Masda is monthly, with three months minimum. Training Grounds does not sell drop-ins.
• At Masda, pro rounds and Friday sparring are invite-only. Beginners use the 18:30 class.
• If a card says both “unlimited” and “three classes a week”, get the rule in writing. Warrior’s private rate is £30; the others do not publish one.
• Ask which show you would enter. Warrior uses local cards. Two Brothers has presented a WBC MuayThai title bout in the city.
