How Much Does Muay Thai Training in Thailand Cost? (2026)

How this guide works

Every figure below comes from a camp's own published price page, checked on 28 September 2026, in Thai baht. We have not averaged, rounded or "estimated" anything. Where a camp does not publish prices, we say so and do not guess. Convert at the day's rate; through September 2026 a pound has bought roughly 40 to 45 baht, but check before you rely on it.

Prices change, often without notice, and several camps note that VAT is charged on top. Treat this as a map of what the market looks like, then click through to the camp before you budget.

Group training: per session

The pay-as-you-go rate for one group class:

Pattern: the Samui and Chiang Mai camps cluster at 400 baht; the big Phuket names and the Fairtex brand charge more. Drop-in is the worst value; nobody training for a week or more should pay it.

Group training: per week and per month

Same sources as above. Several camps sell a cheaper once-a-day option: Lanna is 2,000 a week and 6,000 a month for one session daily, Yodyut 2,000 and 5,500, Sinbi 3,000 and 8,000, Sumalee 8,000 a month. Tiger Chiang Mai states that 7% VAT is not included in its listed prices.

Longer stays get cheaper per month. Sinbi lists 27,000 for three months of twice-daily training, Santai 29,000, AKA 32,000 and Tiger Chiang Mai 46,000 (ex-VAT). Suwit Muay Thai in Phuket lists 9,000 baht a month for instruction only (Suwit, checked 28 Sep 2026).

Private lessons

One-to-one pad work with a trainer, per hour:

600 baht for enrolled students, 800 for drop-ins: Santai.
800 baht: Tiger Muay Thai Chiang Mai (7,200 for ten).
1,000 baht: Sinbi, Lanna (rate not listed, but bookable), Punch it, Yodyut and Wech Pinyo (all 9,000 for ten sessions).
1,500 baht: Fairtex Pattaya; Sinbi with head trainer Kru Saeng (14,000 for ten).
1,000 to 2,000 baht: Superpro Samui, depending on discipline.

A private a day on top of a monthly pass roughly doubles your training spend. Most people do two or three a week, targeted at whatever the group class is not fixing.

Kit hire and extras

Sinbi charges 50 baht a session for gloves and 100 for shin guards; Punch it includes test gloves and shin guards in its rates and rents hand wraps for 50 baht; Superpro charges 400 baht a day or 2,000 a month for the indoor gym only. Sinbi's fitness room is 200 a day or 2,000 a month. (Sources as above.)

Accommodation

This is where budgets diverge. Published on-site rates:

Santai, Chiang Mai: accommodation plus training bundles from 4,000 baht a week (fighter's room) to 7,500 (pool villa), eight options in between (Santai prices, checked 28 Sep 2026).
Suwit, Phuket: 11,000 baht a month for stay-and-train (Suwit, checked 28 Sep 2026).
Tiger Muay Thai Chiang Mai: deluxe air-conditioned room 1,400 baht a night, 7,840 a week, 31,000 a month for one person, ex-VAT (price packages, checked 28 Sep 2026).
Sitsongpeenong, Bangkok: quoted in US dollars, $75 a night single or $51.56 twin-share, including two meals and two training sessions a day, plus taxes and fees (accommodation options, checked 28 Sep 2026).
Kombat Group, Pattaya: all-inclusive (room, meals, training) Bronze fan-room package 10,900 to 14,900 baht a week and 32,900 to 46,900 for four weeks; 7% VAT and 3% bank fees excluded (Kombat Group prices, checked 28 Sep 2026).
Superpro Samui: room rates are on an external booking engine; hotel guests get the Platinum training package included (Superpro, checked 28 Sep 2026).

Off-site rooms near camps in Chalong (Phuket), Lamai (Samui) or the Chiang Mai suburbs are usually cheaper than camp rooms by the month, but we have no published source for those rates and will not invent one. Ask the camp; most keep a list of nearby guesthouses.

Food

AKA Thailand publishes optional meal plans at 3,000 baht a week or 11,000 a month (standard) and 4,500 or 16,000 (deluxe) (AKA pricing, checked 28 Sep 2026), which is a useful benchmark for eating well while training. Street and market food is cheaper; we do not have an official source for typical meal prices so we will not quote one.

Flights and insurance

Check current prices. Return fares London to Phuket, Chiang Mai or Bangkok vary by season and by how far ahead you book, and we do not track them. Koh Samui's airport is privately operated by Bangkok Airways, and most flights to the island are on that airline (Samui Airport, checked 28 Sep 2026), which tends to make Samui the dearest of the three to reach; the ferry-plus-bus route via Surat Thani is the budget alternative.

Insurance is not optional. Gov.uk warns that all Thai hospitals require a guarantee of payment before treating you and recommends cover for medical evacuation (gov.uk health, checked 28 Sep 2026). Standard policies often exclude combat sports; get one that names Muay Thai, and get the price from the insurer.

A sample one-month budget

Built only from the published figures above, for one person doing twice-daily group training at a mid-priced camp:

That gives a range of very roughly 40,000 to 75,000 baht for a month before flights, insurance, transport and beer, and note the Santai room figure already includes training. Your own number will depend most on the room.

Honest pros and cons

Pros: group coaching is astonishingly cheap by UK standards; monthly passes and ten-session private blocks drop the per-session cost further; prices are published, which makes comparison easy.

Cons: VAT and bank fees are sometimes on top; "no refunds, memberships cannot be paused" is common (Yodyut states both, Yodyut, checked 28 Sep 2026), so an injury can strand a monthly pass; accommodation and flights, not training, decide the total.

How much is a month of Muay Thai training in Thailand?

For twice-daily group classes, published monthly passes at the camps in our directory run from 7,500 baht (Wech Pinyo, Koh Samui) to 16,500 baht (Fairtex, Pattaya), checked 28 Sep 2026. Rooms and food are extra unless you buy a package.

Is Phuket more expensive than Chiang Mai?

For group training, generally yes: the big Phuket camps list 600 to 700 baht a class against 400 in Chiang Mai and Samui, though Tiger's Chiang Mai camp is priced like a Phuket camp.

Are private lessons worth it?

For most people, two or three a week fix more than a month of group classes. At 600 to 1,500 baht an hour they are cheap compared with any UK one-to-one.

Do prices include VAT?

Not always. Tiger Muay Thai Chiang Mai and Kombat Group both state that 7% VAT is excluded from listed prices. Ask before you pay.
