Best Muay Thai gyms in Koh Samui

Editorial ranking of Koh Samui gyms that appear in the Muay Thai Atlas Thailand gym file. The order is a judgement grounded in the sources under each gym. It is not a calculated score or a star rating.

Methodology

Only gyms in the Atlas Thailand file were eligible. Weights used for the judgement:

1. Stadium and promotion pedigree (30%). Titles and bout figures stated on the gym's own site or in a published profile. Gym-stated totals are labelled as the gym's figures.
2. Named trainer depth (25%). Coaches named on a page that loaded for this project. A name that appears only in an older article is not treated as the current roster when the current staff page did not load.
3. Training structure (20%). Published group classes, privates, children's classes, or a fighter pathway.
4. Beginner access (10%). An explicit first-timer or children's offer.
5. Accommodation and long-stay practicality (10%). On-site rooms or a stay package the gym publishes.
6. Published price (5%). Figures on the gym site or already recorded in the Atlas file.

Google ratings are repeated only when the Atlas file already recorded them. "Five-star certified" and similar lines are the camp's wording.

Best for is one tag: beginners, fighters, fitness, or long-stay.

Top 10

1. Wech Pinyo Muay Thai

Area: Lamai

Best for: fighters

The camp site calls Master Wech a Southern Thailand champion and number 2 at Rajadamnern. The team card on the same page says 260 bouts, a Lumpinee title in 1977, and number 2 at Rajadamnern from 1977 to 1979. Both wordings are the site's. The same card names coaches with the site's bout counts: Theerapong 225, Pakin 210 with southern titles, Run 269 with a WMC title, See 178 and 23 years, Thong 107 and an eastern Thailand title, Kunsuk 102 with southern titles, Arm more than 100, Tae 65, Tam 64, Fuk 32, and New 21. Group classes run Monday to Saturday morning and afternoon for all levels, with a separate children's split and strength sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. The site says the camp supplies fighters to Phetbuncha Stadium. The Atlas file marks accommodation on site. The homepage lists 400 baht for one class and 500 baht for morning and evening. The "5-star certified" line is the camp's phrase. The rank is the number of named coaches with bout figures on one page.

2. Sea Star Muay Thai

Area: Bophut

Best for: fighters

The gym site says it was built around OUD, Anothai Kaeowichian, and states nearly 400 professional fights and 34 years in boxing on his trainer card. It says training can lead toward Phetch Buncha Stadium and lists three other trainers with years in boxing: Boy Chakraphan Sinuankaew (20), Oat Anucha Kaewwichian (13), and Goa Wasil Medech (16). The Atlas file records a standard private at 800 baht, a private with Kru Oud at 1000 baht, a duo private at 1200 baht, and a children's class at 200 baht. "Years in boxing" is the site's phrase and is not converted here into a teaching-only number or a win-loss record. The tag is fighters because the founding coach's stated ring career is the centre of the page. First-timers are also addressed on the site.

3. Yodyut Muaythai

Area: Choeng Mon

Best for: fighters

The homepage says the gym was founded in 2014 by former champion Yodyut Kiatyongyut and that it takes beginners and elite fighters. A Siam Fight Mag profile says he had more than 250 professional bouts, won Southern Thailand titles at 122 lb and 126 lb, was ranked number 1 at Lumpinee, and fought at Channel 7, Omnoi, Rajadamnern, and Lumpinee. The same article names other coaches, including Nong Bee Kiatyongyut. The gym's trainer page returned a 404 error when it was requested on 28 September 2026, so those other names are not treated as the confirmed current roster. The Atlas file records no on-site accommodation, a 400 baht group class, 700 baht for a day, weeks of 2000 to 3500 baht, and months of 5500 to 8000 baht. The tag is fighters because of the founder's published stadium claim. The missing staff page is why the gym is not ranked on trainer depth.

4. Punch It Gym

Area: Lamai

Best for: long-stay

The homepage retrieved on 28 September 2026 says the gym trains beginners, advanced students, and active fighters, states that the Sports Authority of Thailand has awarded it as a professional Muay Thai gym, and lists on-site accommodation, a cafe, and included access to a fitness area. Published rates on that page are 400 baht a class, 700 baht for two classes a day, 3500 baht a week, and 9600 baht a month, with a 10-hour private pass at 9000 baht. The Atlas file also names a long coach list, including a Kru Lek described there as a world champion with more than 300 fights. Those individual biographies were not repeated on the homepage that loaded, so they are not upgraded into verified records here. The tag is long-stay because rooms and a full week or month are what the loaded page actually sells.

5. Superpro Samui

Best for: fitness

The Atlas file records a Google rating of 4.8 from 417 reviews, on-site accommodation, a 400 baht drop-in, a 2000 baht week, a 7500 baht month, and unlimited rates of 2500 baht a week and 8500 baht a month. It names coaches Beau, Keng, Noi, Wut, Chain, Bo, Nueng, and Mateus for Brazilian jiu-jitsu. A 2026 Samui comparison lists the gym as beginner-friendly and fighter-capable with an on-site stay, at the same 400 baht drop-in. No individual stadium record for those coaches was retrieved in this pass. The tag is fitness because the public evidence is a high-volume, multi-discipline stay gym rather than one named stadium head coach.

6. Lamai Muay Thai Camp

Area: Lamai

Best for: beginners

The camp site presents Lamai as a World Muay Thai Council sanctioned camp and as the original Samui base of a brand that also describes future sites elsewhere. The Atlas file names Ralph Beale and Kru Ching, marks accommodation on site, and records drop-ins of 350 to 400 baht, weeks of 2000 to 2200 baht, and months of 6500 to 7500 baht. A bout record for either named coach was not retrieved here. The sanction claim is the camp's wording. The tag is beginners because the published price is a low drop-in with rooms, and the pages used here do not document a stadium head coach the way Wech Pinyo and Sea Star do.

The Atlas file names Tony Olin, Kru Nong-B, Kru Chat, and Kru First, marks accommodation on site, and records premium packages at 13500 baht for one week, 24500 baht for two weeks, and 44000 baht for four weeks. That is a different product from a 400 baht Lamai drop-in. No stadium record for the named coaches was retrieved in this pass. 8. Chor Ratchawat Muay Thai

Best for: beginners

The Atlas file records a Google rating of 5.0, names trainers Kuan and Bird, marks accommodation on site, and lists an adult drop-in at 400 baht, a children's drop-in at 300 baht, a week at 2000 or 3000 baht depending on sessions per day, a month at 5500 or 7000 baht, and a fighter programme at 9500 baht a month. The site in the file is ratchawatmuaythai.com. Records for Kuan and Bird were not retrieved here. The children's price and the ordinary drop-in are why the tag is beginners. The separate fighter programme is noted and is not the basis of the rank.

The Atlas file names owner Peter, head coach Juk, and coaches Puin, Beem, Adam, Bang, Arm, and Por. It records a 400 baht group class, an 800 baht private, weeks of 2000 or 3000 baht, and months of 5000 or 7500 baht depending on one or two sessions a day. The site is muaythai-samui.com. Accommodation is not marked in the file, and no stadium title for Juk or Peter was retrieved here. The tag is beginners because a head coach is named and the drop-in is published, without a documented champion biography.

10. Jun Muay Thai

Best for: beginners

The Atlas file names trainer Jun, records no on-site accommodation, and lists 300 baht for one group session, 500 baht for a day, 2000 baht for a week, 4000 baht for two weeks, 7000 baht for a month, and 800 baht for a private hour. The site is junmuaythai.com. The 300 baht session is the lowest published group price among this ten. A fight record for Jun was not retrieved. The gym closes the list as a named, low-price Lamai option without rooms, not as a stadium camp.
